What is the difference between Wastewater CE and Drinking Water PGH?
They are separate North Carolina operator continuing-education programs. Wastewater operators use Continuing Education (CE), while drinking-water operators use Professional Growth Hours (PGH). A course’s approval is recorded and displayed separately for each program.
Which program should I choose?

What if I am both a wastewater and drinking-water operator?
Select Both in your student profile and review both approval rows on every course. Approval under one program does not automatically apply to the other.
Can the same course be approved for both programs?
Yes, a course may have separate active approvals for both programs. It may also be approved for only one program or for neither. The course card shows each status independently.
Does buying a course mean it is approved for North Carolina credit?
No. Purchasing or completing a course does not by itself make it eligible for state credit. State credit is represented only when the course has an active recorded approval for the applicable program covering your completion date.
How do I know whether a course is approved?
Check the Wastewater CE and Drinking Water PGH rows on the course card or detail page. Each row says Approved, Not Yet Approved, Pending / Not Yet Approved, or Not Currently Approved.
Where can I find the North Carolina approval/course number?

How many training hours do North Carolina operators need?
North Carolina operators are subject to annual continuing-education requirements, commonly discussed as six hours. Requirements can depend on the certification and current state rules, so confirm your obligation with the appropriate North Carolina program and always verify the course’s active approval before relying on it for credit.
Are these certification-school or exam-preparation courses?
No. This catalog provides continuing education for working operators. It does not provide operator certification, certification-school instruction, or exam preparation.
Are the courses online and self-paced?
Yes. Course materials, required interactions, knowledge checks, and the final assessment are completed online at your pace.
Do I have to attend a live webinar?
No. The courses are asynchronous; there is no scheduled live class or webinar.
What is required to complete a course?
Complete all required sections and knowledge checks, the practical scenario, and a final assessment with a score of at least 80%. The passing score is Water CE Online provider policy, not a stated NC DEQ requirement. Retakes are available.
When do I receive my completion certificate?
Your completion history is saved after you meet the course requirements. An applicable program certificate becomes available only if the course has a recorded approval covering your completion date, provider details are complete, and the required operator credential is in your profile.
Is this a subscription?
No. The complete package is a one-time purchase of $199.00. Individual courses are $34.95 each unless a course lists a different price.
